THE KARDASHEV SCALE
Type I, II, III, IV, V, VI & VII Civilizations
Experts assert that as a civilization grows larger and becomes more advanced, its energy demands will increase rapidly due to its population growth and the energy requirements of its various machines. With this in mind, The Kardashev Scale was developed as a way of measuring a civilization’s technological advancement based upon how much usable energy it has at its disposal. Civilization Type I is given to species who have been able to harness all the energy that is available from a neighboring star, gathering and storing it to meet the energy demands of a growing population. Civilization Type V are like gods having the knowledge to manipulate the universe as they please. Civilization Type VI & VII are in the Doctor Who realm of time & space manipulation.
Humankind is at 0.7 of Type I on the scale.

WHO IS JOHN GALT?
Reason vs Mysticism
One of two fictional protagonists in Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, John Galt is a philosopher and inventor. He believes in the power and glory of the human mind and that “mysticism” weakens the mind. He believes in the right of the individual to use their mind solely for themselves. Galt invents a motor – a perpetual motion machine – efficient and strong enough to drive a locomotive, extracting its power from static electricity and ambient energy.
Is our universe a perpetual motion “machine”?
